You are knowing yourself…

It’s been 3 years, I’ve been writing a personal diary. Now it has become somewhat pivotal for me. Today I’m gonna share my experience on it, what did I gain from it? Should you keep a personal diary? Or Is it a Waste Of Time?

Like many other people, I knew that writing a personal diary was a sort of thing, I wasn’t much interested until the day came when I saw it in the movies or specially in my favorite TV Show, The Vampire Diaries.

I saw the protagonist is writing the diary, mostly on a daily basis, talking to herself, letting the happiness or the frustration out, keeping it private.

At first I was like, Yeah Let’s Buy A Diary. In June, 2020 I bought a gothic style diary, and on the first day at night I wrote. It was good, then my routine was like this that I used to write on a daily basis. Daily* But now, I’m something of a pro myself in writing diaries; now I give gap, 1 week, 3 days, sometimes even a month and I write to the point, the important aspects, excluding the useless.

Enough of my past!

Let’s talk about what did I gained from it?

The most important thing: It fixed my English writing skills. I used to write rough, but as time passed my writing got better and better. And whenever I read my old entries I simply laugh at the shit things I wrote a year ago, but sometimes there were things making me sad, sometimes happy.

People say, how does it improve your writing skills? Just use your brain, you’re writing on a daily basis, questions about words will come into your mind and you’ll probably google it; you’ll learn something, and while reading your entries you yourself will pick out your own grammatical mistakes, and probably laugh at how you wrote.

Nothing is Permanent, writing a diary made me realize this, and it still hurts. Nothing is Permanent as… the friends or our group, the people I used to sit back in the days, all gone! Right now the group is different, and I know this that in the coming times there will be someone else, a different group of friends, the old ones gone. People, relatives, some of them dead*

The time you enjoyed with every bit of fullness just disappeared or got replaced by the future where it holds more for you, but the thing is you have to realize that nothing is Permanent.

My whole plan got changed. I used to write in my diary that I’d be studying in America at the end of 2021, and yet here I am after getting rejected by every American University, still sitting in my country, not losing any hope.

Writing a diary was just like saving every memory, a lesson to learn.

Is It A Waste Of Time?

To some people out there, the negative ones, some of them might think like this; they think that writing is just a waste of time. Dear reader, I ask you this, what do you think? I have no problem with people saying they don’t prefer to write a diary, but the problem comes when someone criticizes it. You know what I mean.

So definitely, it’s not a waste of time when you’re gaining something out of it especially in this time where we are consuming out our energy by using social media, I can say this proudly that writing a diary is way better than this…

And it takes what? 5–15 mints approx.

What I can conclude is this…

Writing or Keeping a diary are for people with a Goal. People who think critically, people who observe, people who take chances, who take risks, people who are busy!

You will never see a short-minded person writing a diary. It is a privilege if you’re doing so. And in the end, we all are still learning until our death.

Do share your thoughts! That’s all for now.
