My Obsession With Vampires
They are more to me than just a myth.

Cringey Twilight fan? Nah. It’s true that a time ago I was , but this time right now, the obsession with this myth is something else. There are things that you can’t explain; the same is with my obsession with vampires.
The term, Vampire or Vampyr. Everyone has a different perspective on this, to some, it’s the loving, sexy, blue or golden-eyed vampires, to some it’s the dark, deadly, troubled ones; to some they are the blood-sucking monsters, clearly not beautiful or romantic as shown in the media.
I’ve watched a lot movies/TV shows, some of them : The Vampire Diaries, The Originals, True Blood, Twilight, V Wars, Castlasvania, Underworld Movie Series (Great!), Dracula Untold, Dark Shadows, Abraham Lincoln : The Vampire Hunter (Most realistic and my fav).
The vampire media of course, played a vital role here for me, but the question like any other fan, occurred in my mind that what if they exist now or what if they ever existed?
I tried to find some answers. I studied the origin of this myth. Most people know, in the old times these Vampires were not in this form, Human Form as we know them in the modern culture.

Popularized in most parts of England and Germany, the horror of this creature began in the late 17th century.
Jure Grando Alilović or Giure Grando, was a villager from the region of Istria who may have been the first real person described as a vampire in historical records! Interesting?
Petar Blagojević, Petar Blagojević was a Serbian peasant who was believed to have become a vampire after his death and to have killed nine of his fellow villagers. The case was one of the earliest, most sensational and most well documented cases of vampire hysteria _ Google.
Arnold Paole, Famous subject of the 18th century vampire cases. Arnold Paole was a Serbian hajduk who was believed to have become a vampire after his death, initiating an epidemic of supposed vampirism that killed at least 16 people in his native village of “Meduegna”, located at the West Morava river in Trstenik, Serbia.
Vlad the Impaler, The most famous one till now. Who the hell doesn’t know him? His methods of torturing his enemies, impaling them. Later on he become a villain to some, and a hero to some.
There were more cases, and stories. All of them, or most of these cases are from Europe, Eastern Europe. The place this myth started. At first this happened only to attract people to the Churches, but they didn’t know later on in the upcoming centuries, it would become a genre of it-self.
Now, most people think that Dracula was the first Vampire novel written in 1897, but no, it isn’t the first. It’s great, but not the first. The first one was written in 1819, “ Vampyre” By William John Polidori.
Polidori’s vampire, Lord Ruthven, is inspired by a thinly disguised portrait of the predatory English poet, Lord Byron.
And later on, the stories began; a lot of writers came and wrote pretty good novels. Later on the era of films came, and as you know it. The culture began in the 2000’s, when Underworld came, then in the late 2000’s, the time of Twilight and TVD.
Vampires are really a great subject of history, with no proper history, if I say. And I myself love myths, and the most attractive thing about vampires is their immortality. Other than this, the romantic thing was started by Polidori in his Novel, the seduction and all that things mostly loved by girls.
Right now, my obsession for this myth is increasing day by day; some people may think that the era of Vampires has come to an end, but I don’t. This myth itself has so much potential, also right now a lot of shows and books are being written on the subject but most of them are quite boring because they’re only showing us what we know; the thing is that the audience wants what they don’t know. Why, I think that there is a brighter future for this in Films, cause I’m a screenwriter and I got some brilliant ideas. I know everyone has, but I think mine are way greater and stranger as there are a lot of unexplained events of the past out there in the archives.
Some people might ignore this myth, or even hate it, but to me there is a higher involvement in this.
In the end, I’ll say this if you have time, this could be your hobby in researching on this topic, you don’t know when something good is ahead of you, I know there are more interesting and important topics people should look on, but I’m just suggesting. Study the cases!
In the end, I just forgot about the movies I’ve watched; now my focus is on the literary as it consists of more truth and reality.
